Mr. Abbey is a graduate in Architecture, University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana and an Associate member of the Ghana Institute of Architects. He is registered with the Architects Registration Council of Ghana.Mr.Abbey worked with Plan Architects,an Architectural firm from 1994 to 1996 as an intern Architect after completing his first degree.

After completing the Post Graduate Course, Mr. Abbey pursued a one-year career as a Teaching assistant in the Department of Architecture, University of Science & Technology before joining Akuffo of Associates (formerly practicing under the name Xtra Space Limited).

In 1992, Mr. Abbey undertook training course in Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CAD) at Atlantic Computers Training School in Accra.He has good knowledge of the following softwares AutoCAD , Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project. He briefly joined KAS Valley Estates from August 2007 to July 2008 as a Construction Manager

He worked as a senior consultant for Akuffo & Associates. He is currently the Principal Architect of Archi-Lab Consult. He has been working on both private and public projects since.

Archi-Lab Consult is an Architectural firm registered with the Ghana Institute of Architects and Architects Registration Council of Ghana. The firm is headed by Architect Richard .E. Abbey with a team of architects and associated consultants who provide services in the areas of Architectural Designs and supervision, Structural Design, Mechanical and Electrical Designs. The firm consults for Japan Motors group of companies, Lakeside Estate Ltd and Tower Real Estate.
